INCI: Squalane
Squalane is translucent, colourless oil and an active substance. It strengthens lipidic barriers deep inside the horny layer of the epidermis, it helps in the absorption of other active materials through the skin, it softens and makes the epidermis more elastic and it acts against bacteria. It limits the epidermic loss of water. Squalane provides the skin with precious and nourishing substances; what is more, it prolongs effects of vitamins A, E and coenzyme Q10. Squalane helps in the distribution and the absorption of oils and butters. It is especially frequently used in winter creams, lotions and lip glosses. It can be added to massaging and face oils or used in a concentration reaching 100%. At low temperatures, it creates a protective layer onto the skin allowing its breathing. Squalane is included in the category of light oils which are quickly absorbed by the skin and do not leave the fatty feeling. What is more, it:
- protects the skin against free radicals and the weather
- reduces small wrinkles and protects against the creation of new
- acts as a skin moisturizer by increasing strength and oxygenating its lipidic layer
